Macbeth Project
Select one of the assignments
to do. No matter what option you select, you project should reflect your
understanding of the entire play. Don't skip any act. Your project must include
one illustration of the play: it can be a portrait, a sketch of a character, a
scene illustration, a theme collage, etc.
- Create a newspaper called Scotland Gazette
to report the sequence of events, the pivotal and interesting elements in the
story based on each act of the play. Like any newspaper, there should be
editorials, headline news, illustrations etc.
- Make a list of at least 15 literary elements or
techniques from each act and explain the meaning of each example. Label the
lines selected ( i.e. Act I, Scene 1, lines 2-5). Total number of the examples
should be 60 from 5 acts.
- Pick a theme, for example "Ambitions can turn a person
blind to morals". Use the theme as the umbrella and find quotes-speeches,
actions, events, and character's thoughts from each act that fall under the
umbrella theme to illustrate it. You can use direct quotations or paraphrase
the speeches or summarize the events & actions.
- A break-down summary for each scene of each act.
- Setting-
- Mood-
- Characters involved-
- Events (conflicts)-

fortune, with his brandish'd steel,
Which smoked with bloody execution,
Like valour's minion carved out his passage
Till he faced the slave;
Which ne'er shook hands, nor bade farewell to him,
Till he unseam'd him from the nave to the chaps,
And fix'd his head upon our battlements."(Act I,

- Use Inspiration program to illustrate the sequence of
events and characters involved (only a few students can select this project to
do. You must know the program to do this project.)
- Write a five-scene screenplay using modern English as
well as incorporating some original lines from the play. But the plot must
remain the same. In rewriting
the play, you need to include the following:(
View an example)
- the descriptions of the setting
- the dialogues among the characters
- stage directions that direct the characters' physical movements(
including facial , tone and emotional changes) on the stage
- the narratives of each character's main physical or personality traits.
- Be Macbeth' subconscious self. If his ambition had not
taken control his whole mind, what could have happened...? You may need to
create your own version of Macbeth who had listened to his conscious.
- If you are good at making digital images, create at
least 5 digital images (your original work not a copy of any Internet images)
to illustrate the five acts. Each image needs to be accompanied by a brief
writing, which can be a poem, a quote, a description or a story. One of the
five images must be the book cover.
