Course Goals-

1. To use and create narratives to portray characters by using
• details of moving images , i.e. close-up facial expressions, body gestures, background setting etc.
• narration /dialogue to show characters' emotions and motives, i.e. inflection, pace and emotion
2. To learn narrative techniques from memoirs and create stories that are
• creative, original and clearly told
• compelling
3. To learn techniques of using a camera
• Rule of thirds
• Variety of angles, positions and movements employed aesthetically
• Close-ups
• Lighting- filled lighting and reflectors
4. To organize shots to create a story, portray a character or send a mesage
   • planning
   • purpose
   • story objectives
5. To create consistent sound quality
   • clean mix and elimination of unwanted sounds
   • uses of background music creatively
6. To edit and add authorize the final film. Edits need to -
   • be smooth
   • demonstrate a strong command of edit tools
   • be createive and enhance the final production
   • include special effects that enhance the aesthetics of the film

Expected Outcomes-

• To create a 140-minute film( as a group)to portray class 2010
• To learn to portray individuals or a group of individuals effectively using moving images, snap dhops, interviews and narratives
• To learn to edit moving and still images
• To learn to produce the film by assemling the film clips
