Day 1 (Monday)

Aim:  1.Why is what Elizabeth will testify in court so crucial to the development of the play?

HW #10

Homework:

1. Write a diary from the point of view of  Elizabeth Proctor. In the diary, explain why she lied for her husband in court and how she feels afterwards.

or

2. Rewrite the scene in court where John Proctor, Mary Warren and Elizabeth Proctor are questioned by Judge Danforth from the point of view of John Hale in a monologue. Let him reflect on what happened and describe how he feels about the trial, which eventually leads to her decision of quitting the court at the end of Act III.

Day 2 (Tuesday)

Aim: Why wouldn't John Proctor sign his name on the confession? Why is he considered a tragic hero?

Write a100 -word obituary for John Proctor.

Day 3 ( Wednesday)

Watch the highlights of the movie, The Crucible, in the library and discuss in what way  the movie is different from the original play and the effect of it.

HW #12

• Use the Study Guide to review the play.
• Go to the Essay Webpage to select ONE topic to write an essay analyzing the play.

Day 4 (Thursday)

Watch the 2nd half of the movie.

HW.

• Continue working on the essay as described in HW #12. OR

You can write an analysis based on the entire play from any aspect as described in the "Study of Drama" handout.

• Prepare for the Test on the play on Monday.
