Aim: How does the news story illustrate the elements of a story?
Do Now:
- Copy Word of the Day (brief definition, partsof speech, and the example sentence)
- Copy Daily Test Prep( question and answer)
- Read and copy ONE news summary
- On this Day in History ( after reading, copy down one snippet of On this Day in History )
Activities:
1. Journal #7 Describe an interesting news story that you have heard during the weekend. Try to remeber who, what, when, where, why and how in the story.
2.Read the news story and identify the following -
- Character(s)
- setting
- problem/conflict/issue
- attitude/feelings
- Beginning/Middle/End( sequence of events)
- Interaction with other people (your family members, teachers, coaches, team members, school mates, etc)
- Make a point( reveal who you are; what kind of character you are)
- Humor (optional)
- making sense
- genuine attitude/feelings
- revealing your inner thoughts
3. Power Point Workshop to tell the story about you.
HW#14 Complete the "My Story" photo project using the Power Point Program. ( either digital or clipped pictures from any magazine or newspaper).

2. Read the article about In a Helpless Baby, the Roots of Our Social and discuss-
- How do babies interact with people?
- What distinguish humans from other animals besides the fact that we have the ability to use language to express ourselves?
HW#15 Describe 3 things you have leared from the article and explain how we can apply them to enhance our life.
