Activities:
- Journal #26 Describe a natural disaster that took place in the past several years and its consequences ( the type of disaster, where it happened, consequences).
- Read the article At Least 92 Die in Earthquake in Italy , describe-
- How serious was the earthquake?
- What were its consequences?
- What is the earthquare described as rare?
- Vocabulary words to know:
- epicenter: n. the part of the earth's surface directly above the focus of an earthquake
- Seismic: adj. of, subject to, or caused by an earthquake ;having a strong or widespread impact
- magnitude: n. great size
- debris: n. the remains of something broken down or destroyed
- crumble: v. to fall into small pieces

Activities:
1. Journal #27 If you had a chance to have your memories altered, would you do it? Why or why not?
2. Read the article " Brain Researchers Open Door to Editing Memory " and respond-
- What has the the scientist discovered about human memories?
- What can they do now to human memeries? What do they intend to do with this discovery?
- How will people react to such an option if it became available? What would happen to the society?
- Do you feel such remedy may have more benefits or damages to our human world? Explain.
HW #35 Describe a senario where you would like to have your memories erased or altered. If you wouldn't want such an option, explain why you'd like to live with fear or painful memories.
