Portfolio Guidelines
( Portfolio is due on May 26,2004 and will be reviewed ,shared, and
evaluated on May 26 and May 27)
In your portfolio, you will need to include the following-
Table of Contents -with page number stated for each work included.
Dear Reader letter. In the letter, explain to your reader-
what they expect to read in your portfolio.
how you felt while preparing it.
what is the best piece of writing included and how you accomplished this.
your new perspectives of New York City and how the reading of all the poems and stories has contributed to the changed attitude
Which piece included needs improvement the most-why you didn't do such a great job with this piece; how you could revise it and make it better
What's your most significant accomplishment from this course
How do you feel as a writer now?
All your homework and selected journals, typed and numbered, with clear heading and date
Your best writing with comments from you and one of your classmates-why it is the best piece.
One piece of writing that has been revised (two drafts should be included-1st draft and the revised draft)
One piece of writing you like the most( not necessarily the best). Explain.
A descriptions of new things you learned about New York through this course.
One piece of writing with an illustration (can be a collage made out of magazine or newspaper clips)
Reflection (Conclusion) piece. In the reflection, describe-
your experience of completing this portfolio-positive or negative
what you learned as a writer and a New York resident
your comments of reading and experience in the classroom (considering all the reading and writing we did)
your improved writing skills or overall skills as a student
what grade you feel you deserve
