How to Write a Letter to the Author?

1. Tell the author your overall impression of the book (To me the book is about ...) using 3 sentences.
2. Tell the author about one particular thing you like about the book-the character, the plot, the theme, the use of language and structure, etc.
   • Explain what it is you like.
   • Explain why you like it.
   • Give at least one example to show what you mean.
3. Ask the author one or two questions.
4. If you wish the story had a different ending or the character was portrayed differently, explain to the author how you would like to make the changes.
5. Tell the author the impact  the book has played on you-the lesson you learned and your emotional response to it.
