Program or Software Used to Create the Web Projects

• Microsoft Word with web page feature OR Page Composer in the Netscape Communicator( free to download)
• Paint
• Photo Editor

What does each program do?

1. Microsoft Word/ Page Composer: Use them as Word Processor to Create web pages. See detailed instructions on how to use the program.
2. Paint: To draw ; to edit images found in the Internet by changing colors , superimposing images, making collages or adding texts; to convert any image format into .gif or .jpg.
3. Photo Editor: To create special effects such as ghosting, less contrasting, negative, embossing, etc ( good for using images as background).

How to upload web pages into ThinkQuest.org site?

1. All files saved in html format.
2. File names contain no upper cases or spaces.
3. Upload both html files and image files.
4. Log in using the correct user id and password.
5. Go to development tools and click "Click Here".
6. Open File Manager.
7. Click "Upload".
8. Browse the files needed to be uploaded.

Trouble-Shooting

1. Images don't show-- After uploading the file, check the box next to it in ThinkQuest File Manager, click Edit. Find the image file name (i.e. "image src="image 6.gif").Does it match the image file you inserted? Upload the image file that appears in number.
2. Index page can't be uploaded--- Delete the old index file in File Manager first before you upload the new one.
3. New index page doesn't show--- after uploading, refresh the screen.
